Every now and then, trends change and interiors feature different colors, textures and furniture. Universal and timeless design styles are still in, but there’s also a breath of fresh air. What is worth considering if we are planning a renovation this year?
Trends for 2022 are quite a variety – there is something for both fans of classic solutions and those looking for something original. The designers focus primarily on comfort, convenience and a reference to nature.

Interiors in 2022 are about being close to nature
Already last year we could notice that plants gained in popularity. Windowsills and plant stands welcomed pots with beautiful specimens, while wallpapers and ceramic tiles featured palm leaves and other plant motifs. This year, this trend continues and
green is one of the most trendy colors. Both deep shades of green, like emerald, and the bright ones associated with fresh mint and olives will be in.
Green will be accompanied by the colors of nature, such as brown, shades of beige and gray.
Purple is back
Among the trendy colors there is one that may surprise some people, and it hasn’t been as popular as it is now for a long time. Trendy interiors in 2022 include, apart from green, various tones of purple: lavender, berry and lilac. These colors will look especially good in rooms with arrangement that refers to the 1980s.
Trends for the walls and the floors
The floor should be in neutral colors. If the entire surface is covered with the same tiles, flooring planks or floorboards, we can optically enlarge the room.
The herringbone pattern will be very popular, and it can be applied also in kitchens and bathrooms thanks to modern ceramic tiles. When it comes to the walls,
wallpapers and tiles referring to exotic plants will look good here. The best result can be achieved if only one wall has a pattern. Too many patterns could be overwhelming, causing chaos in the arrangement, and the interior would look smaller.
Trendy furniture in 2022
Modular furniture has been used in decor for some years now. It is practical and can be adapted to every room, regardless of its layout and size. Interior design trends for 2022 include them, too, although they will have a slightly different version than they’ve had so far.
Low armchairs and sofas will be its most characteristic feature. They refer to the Japanese style, which has become extremely popular this year. In combination with the softness of the fabrics and slightly rounded profile of the furniture, such lounge furniture makes the living room or bedroom exceptionally cozy.
Next to minimalism there are interiors which with its design refer to the 1980s, the evidence of that is the before mentioned purple. Interiors arranged in this style in 2022 include furniture in vivid, sometimes mottled colors, and in unusual shapes. For example, a colorful sofa or acrylic table will work well.
The most popular design styles
As it was mentioned before, the Japanese style, or the so-called
‘Japandi’ style, will be popular. It is a combination of the
Scandinavian and the Japanese styles. Its distinguishing features are low furniture, and small amount of knick-knacks and decorations. Bright colors and natural materials are used, which make the interiors cozy and practical at the same time.
Another style is boho, which craves everything that’s natural, like plants, wicker, wood and stone. Boho has been present in interiors for years now and it won’t change this year. Next style is art deco, where elegance, mirrors and expression are important. And finally, we shouldn’t forget about the retro style, specially about it’s version referring to the 1980s.
Bathroom in 2022 – what will be in style?
The influence of trends can be clearly seen when we take a closer look at what will dominate in the bathroom decor. When looking for inspiration for its finishing,
it is worth focusing on marble and stone, for example. The former is extremely elegant and will give the trendy bathroom 2022 the spirit of
art deco. Marble is also a good option if we are planning our arrangement to be in glamorous style. Then, we need to remember to invest in a mirror with a massive gilded frame and in gold fittings, and the real decoration will be a large ornate bathtub placed in the center of the bathroom.
Stone, on the other hand, is versatile and will fit both
boho-style and very modern arrangements. If the bathroom has a window, it is a good idea to invest in interesting
potted plants. Besides, there should be some wooden accessories and a wicker basket there, and the floor and walls should be in bright neutral colors.
What if you’re into a modern bathroom for 2022 and are looking for something fresh? Then, ‘Japandi’ style is a good choice. Wood, minimalist finishes, simple modern walk-in shower enclosures or enclosures without a visible door frame will work perfectly. This is a good option not only for people who love modern minimalism and comfort, but also for those who face the challenge of arranging a small bathroom where every space counts.
